Painting the Roses Red

Susanita's Little Gallery is having a "Sing that Movie!" exhibition and I chose Alice in Wonderland. I love Disney Animation and growing up with these movies it's a dream come true to be able to do art for the films.
I still have a lot to do with this piece. My daughter drew the picture below of the Queen of Hearts and, so far, this is my favorite drawing she has ever done. I used her work to help me decide to make the Queen for one of my characters. Before I started the finished Queen I sat down and did a mock example to make sure my idea would work in paper. Below is the preliminary Queen (she looks more like Fred Flintstone in a dress, haha).

Snuggle Shark

This is my second submission for the Bear and Bird Boutique + Gallery Small Stuff 6 exhibit. Our seven month old daughter is super snuggly...until she bites. She got some teeth early and while nursing she would bite me! So this is for you, Vivienne, my little snuggle shark.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! Don't you hate when someone posts Christmas things really early? Oh yeah, that's what I did on my last post, haha. So for those of you I annoyed I did something quick today to celebrate Halloween. Have fun trick-or-treating and stay safe. My girls will be little tigers this year.

Oh Deer!

Here is another piece for Bear and Bird Boutique + Gallery "Small Stuff 6" exhibit. I might put "Hanami & Plumes" on my Etsy account, since it's a little bare, and do a few more holiday pieces for the Small Stuff exhibit. I used a lot of deer references and did some quick sketching of some photographs I found online, then my husband pointed out that reindeer are actually based on caribou! I assumed reindeer are in the catagory of unicorns and dragons but after some research, and feeling quite dumb, I sketched some caribou. I hate when he is right! Haha

Momo

Someone special is having a birthday this weekend and she happens to be a fellow Avatar fan ( and she's only 3=)). Her favorite character is Momo so I had to do a little something for her birthday present. If you don't know what "Avatar" is, and you either refer to the blue people or the horrible movie that was made after the series, please do yourself a favor and watch the entire animated series "Avatar: The Last Airbender" so your life will be better;)

Mermaid Lagoon

This is my piece for the Peter Pan & Wendy exhibit for Susanita's Little Gallery. http://www.susanitaslittlegallery.com/. Making a piece for Peter Pan's Mermaid Lagoon has been a fantasy of mine since I was a little girl. This exhibit is not based on the Disney film but on J.M. Barrie's novel Peter Pan & Wendy.

Bell's Handcrafts

If you notice that my Etsy account is looking a little bare it's because a wonderful store called Bell's Handcrafts in Newnan, Georgia is having their grand opening in February and I was asked to be one of the many artists contributing. I am honored and excited to have my paper sculptures displayed and sold and I hope to visit one day soon. Above are some pictures of the store after its remodel.
